Paire de vases à côtes torses en bois sculpté et laqué
XXe siècle
Paire de vases couverts en bois laqué blanc, sculptés de cotes torses en forme de godrons spiralés. Les couvercles amovibles sont munis d’une prise, la panse des vases est épaulée de deux doubles poignées torsadées terminées par des queues d’écrevisses et ils reposent sur des piédouches.
Travail français ou italien vers 1930
Cette paire de vases d’ornement est réalisée d’après les modèles romains du XVIIe siècle, qui étaient taillés dans des porphyres antiques et étaient l’ornement des plus grandes collections, comme en témoignent les beau exemplaires des collections de Louis XIV ou un album provenant du cardinal de Richelieu, contenant certains modèles dessiné par le peintre et archéologue Giovanni Angelo Canini[1].

A pair of covered vases in white lacquered wood, carved with twisted ribs in the form of spiral gadroons, the circular spreading fluted cover with ball finial. The bodies of the vases are flanked by two double twisted handles ending in crayfish tails, and they rest on small feet.
French or Italian work, circa 1930.
This pair of ornamental vases is made after the Roman models of the 17th century, which were carved from ancient porphyries and adorned the greatest collections, as evidenced by the beautiful specimens from the collections of Louis XIV or some drawings in an album from Cardinal Richelieu, containing certain models drawn by the painter and archaeologist Giovanni Angelo Canini.
